Against tomorrow’s sky 2025
With emphasis on materials and the idea of process itself, elements of chance and alchemy give shape to details. Working on unprimed linen with black water-based paint, details are shaped by the warp and woof of the surface material. Diluted pigment fades and blurs form, and irregular weave omits edges. My careful paint application allows the white paint to remain on top of the linen and, depending on the light and the viewer’s stance, is a surface that is both present and absent.
